We’re halfway there! Olympics midpoint, SEC and The rest of College football

Michael Phelps of the United States dives into the pool(Source:london2012.com)

9 days of competition are over for the 2012 Olympics, and I have to say that This is the most i have EVER watched the Summer Games EVER. Every sport has had something to offer the casual fan, or the sportscaster like myself (including handball, who knew)?

That guy in the picture above…. pretty dang special. Michael Phelps resume, 22 medals overall. 18 of them gold. He has more medals than any other American Olympian ever. He’s he first swimmer to win gold in two different events in three consecutive Olympics. All time great, and arguably the greatest Olympian ever. Plus I think he and Ryan Lochte remind me of a couple of my college buddies that you would hang out with and have a heck of a time. Phelps has been great throughout his career, but another athlete that has captured the hearts of people across the world…

Gabrielle Douglas of the United States competes in the Artistic Gymnastics Women's Uneven Bars (Source:london2012.com)

Her smile could light up the Western hemisphere.  She looks like she weighs only 10 pounds, and has the athleticism that leaves you speechless. Ms. Gabby Douglas helped Team USA win Gold, and then came away with an individual all around medal as well.  She has star potential, and it’s safe to say we will hear about her between now and when the Summer Games head to Rio De Janeiro in 2016. STAR, STAR, STAR.

Usain Bolt of Jamaica celebrates winning gold with Wenlock(Source:london2012.com)

He’s a beast. A pure beast in track and field. He’s 6’5″, and looks like a cyborg that some scientist made in a laboratory. Usain Bolt got in the blocks Sunday in the 100m Final and pulled away to set an Olympic record at 9.63 seconds. I could watch this guy run all day. Just an animal.

The reigning National Champions held their annual Alabama fan day at Bryant Denny Stadium. the Tide gearing up for the 2012 season and their first big matchup of the year against Michigan at Jerry World (or Cowboys Stadium). After the first three days of practice, Bama looks, well, as good as you can look after three practices. Once the pads come on, the few spots open in the 2 deep will start to sort out.

The Auburn Tigers will put on the pads for the first time today at 5CT. Alot of changes made in the off season, and after the first four days of work, Head Coach Gene Chizik is very pleased with players grasping new terminology from Offensive Coordinator Scot Loeffler and Defensive Coordinator Brian Van Gorder.

Speaking of Van Gorder, he may have one of the most impressive, late 80’s early 90’s  mustaches in the country.

Other coaches that have had some pretty impressive ‘mustaches… include… Purdue Head Coach Danny Hope..

Iowa St’s Paul Rhodes

And one of my Favorites, a former coach who had style.. The one and only Howard Schnellenberger. Nuff said…

My Real Housewives of New Jersey weren’t on the tube last night, and I was disappointed (no DVR watching today)! So in Memory I had to grab this Twitter picture of Kathy Wakile over the weekend. Along with…

Khole, Momma Kardashian, and Nicole Richie taking in some fine Mexican cuisine…

And even Grecthen from the OC gets some love on the blog, looking great over the weekend as well..

He will celebrate his B Day on Saturday (August 11th), and he should have that day a national holiday. No lie. A tribute to none other than:

See You Later this week. Happy Monday!
